A Home for the Holidays

CASA of Johnson County is eager to announce the raffling off of five custom modeled Kidz Klubhouses.  Handmade and uniquely designed by various CASA supporters, these one of a kind playhouses are sure to ignite any child's imagination this holiday season.

The Kidz Klubhouse Project is one of two fundraisers CASA puts on each year to raise support for the abused and neglected children of Johnson County.  None of these picturesque houses could have been constructed were it not for the gracious time and monetary donations made by both the faithful Klubhouse sponsors and builders.

When asked what motivated him to involve a team of student builders from Godley High School's Agricultural Department, teacher, Troy Webb said, "What I find so rewarding about this project is that its foundation is built firmly on kids helping kids.  In the long haul both sides benefit; more foster children are reached through the resources raised, while my students simultaneously receive a well rounded education."

This year, the "Jail House" was built by Johnson County inmates under the supervision of Sheriff Bob Alford.  Materials for the Jail House were donated by the Sunrise Circle ee Farms.  The "Castle" was constructed by the Godley High School Agricultural Department students under the direction of teacher, Troy Webb.  Castle materials were sponsored by Rodney Mahagen Consulting, Sam and Kay Walls, and Mark and Mary Lou Reinhardt.  The "School House," built by Alvarado Technology and FFA students was supervised by Brad Bransom and sponsored by Nate Stewart Lumber.  Instructed by teacher Mark McClure, the "Swiss Cottage" was hand crafted by the Cleburne High School FFA students.  Cottage supplies were generously supplied by Barbara Yoder.  The "Chapel" was constructed by faithful volunteers of First Christian Church and sponsored by Southwest Properties & Construction.

"These playhouses are unique from any other because of what they symbolize.  The houses' creative structures are symbolic for the safe and nurturing homes we ultimately desire for the children of Johnson County," said Yoder.

Last year, CASA was overwhelmed by the selflessness of two families.  Not only did Rosita Knox, winner of the Princess House and Bob Mart, winner of the School House, monetarily contribute to CASA's cause via ticket sales, but upon the announcement of their winnings, the families declared their desire to donate the houses to children of local foster homes.

"I really think this cause is one way the citizens of Johnson County can have a positive influence on our future's most important component, the leaders of tomorrow, our kids," said Knox.  "After all, these children cannot help themselves."

The 2008 fundraiser tickets are currently available to the public via CASA staff, board members, and the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce. Tickets will also be made accessible at various local events.

December 13, CASA of Johnson County is teaming up with Burleson's Best Buy to present you with a larger than life winter wonderland. Just a few of the day's activities include: an appearance by Santa himself, live Christmas music, interactive games, and on sight viewing of the whimsical Klubhouses.  Located at 12820 South Fwy, this event is one for the entire family.  The money will be used to recruit and train CASA volunteers to help insure that Johnson County foster kids receive the safe, loving and permanent placements they deserve.

CASA appreciates all of the support from these groups and the entire community. With everyone's help, we will continue to speak out in court proceedings for abused and neglected children.  Don't miss out on an opportunity to play an influential role in helping Johnson County's children find forever homes.
